What do I do whenever I lose motivation for improvement in my career?

I’ve recently entered a stage or mood in which I wouldn't really enjoy programming and advancing in this field as much as I did a couple of months back, and I believe it’s something that happens naturally at certain points in our careers when we start to stagnate in terms of mindset. I would lose the joy of working on side projects, working overtime on my current work project (which I like by the way), and also improving myself in terms of career progression; it might be the result of burnout, or it might as well be a perspective shift and a lack of a clear perspective on what I want to do next.

I believe that it might also be something to do with the feeling of having to keep up to date with everything, and the environment in which we live doesn’t really help much with this issue; we always see highlights of peoples’ progress on social media, and that gives us a misrepresentation of the actual situation. It makes us believe we are always behind others.

As such, I thought it might be something that everyone experiences, or will experience at some point, and I believe it might be helpful to offer some insight into what I’ve started doing in order to continue growing in other areas and avoid stagnating, and most importantly, not suffer afterward from the post-feeling of procrastinating.
